Surrounded by deodar forests and towering Himalayan peaks, Gangotri offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Upon arrival, check into your guesthouse and take time to acclimatize to the altitude.
In the evening, you can visit the Gangotri Temple and witness the serene Ganga Aarti. This day is important for rest and preparation before starting the trek.

The path gradually ascends through dense forests of pine and deodar, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains. As you progress, you’ll notice the landscape slowly transitioning from forested areas to more open terrain.
Chirbasa, meaning “abode of pine trees,” is a beautiful campsite with panoramic views of the Bhagirathi peaks. The campsite is surrounded by nature and offers a peaceful environment.

Day 3: Chirbasa to Bhojbasa (3,800 m) – 5 km Trek
Today’s trek is relatively shorter but equally scenic. The trail continues along the river and gradually becomes more rugged and barren as you gain altitude.
You’ll pass through areas once filled with Bhoj (birch) trees, which give Bhojbasa its name. The valley opens up here, offering magnificent views of Mt. Shivling and the Bhagirathi massif.
Bhojbasa is a wide, open campsite with a dramatic landscape and fewer trees, giving you a true high-altitude Himalayan experience.

Start early and trek towards Gaumukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier and the origin of the River Ganga. Witnessing the glacier up close is a surreal and spiritual experience.
After spending some time at Gaumukh, continue your ascent towards Tapovan, which involves crossing the glacier and climbing steep rocky terrain. This section requires careful navigation and may require guidance.

Day 5: Tapovan to Bhojbasa
Wake up to a mesmerizing sunrise over Mt. Shivling—one of the most iconic views in the Himalayas.
