Trek Overview
Everything you need to know
The Borasu Pass Trek, also known as Baras Pass Trek, is one of the most thrilling high-altitude crossover treks in the Indian Himalayas. Connecting the beautiful Har Ki Dun Valley (Uttarakhand) to the remote Baspa Valley (Himachal Pradesh), this trek crosses the majestic Borasu Pass at ~17,800 ft, making it a true expedition-level adventure.
This trek is ideal for experienced trekkers seeking a challenging and offbeat Himalayan journey. Unlike commercial treks, Borasu Pass offers raw wilderness, glacier crossings, remote campsites, and dramatic landscapes that constantly evolve throughout the trek.
The trail begins in the lush green Har Ki Dun valley, passing through ancient Himalayan villages like Osla, dense forests, alpine meadows, and eventually transitions into rugged glacial terrain. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes stark and dramatic, with snowfields, moraines, and towering peaks surrounding you.
The pass crossing itself is the highlight of the trek, involving steep ascents, snow traverses, and technical sections. From the top, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks stretching across Uttarakhand and Himachal.
Due to its remoteness, altitude, and technical difficulty, the Borasu Pass Trek is recommended only for trekkers with prior high-altitude and glacier trekking experience.
